Brotherly Disputes
0April 23, 2012 by Chris Whitman
I made a short, two player game in 48 hours for Ludum Dare this weekend. It’s called “Merlin, Build Me a Castle.”
The sibling rivalry between King Arthur and his lesser known brother King Brothur has reached new heights as the two command Merlin to build for them extravagant castles in the sky.
Of course, it’s no good having a castle in the sky if your brother has one too. Assemble your castle; you then have 15 seconds to destroy as much of your opponent’s castle as possible. The player with the tallest castle at the end wins. Ties go to Arthur (Player 1) because he’s slightly older.
The game is two players at one keyboard. Player 1 gets WASD + space and Player 2 gets the arrow keys + enter. Clicking anywhere after the game is over restarts. Pushing the other player physically is allowed, but I’m not responsible for any injuries, broken computers or hurt feelings.
I didn’t get everything I wanted in this one, so I’ve decided to do a Unity remake following my current projects with way more things/game modes and a lot faster/stupider. I guarantee good times!
